How to Create a Custom Template
Custom templates let you design a layout once and reuse it across multiple brands.
Here’s a simple walkthrough to help you create one from scratch.
Open the Custom Template Builder
Go to the Templates tab and click Add Custom Template.
This opens the builder in a new tab, where you’ll start by picking the products you want to include. This engine and process is similar to the Presentations tool!
Build Your Product List
Use the search bar to look up products by keyword, event, or SKU.
As you browse, add any products you want to include in the template. You can also create groups in your list if you’d like to organize them by theme or category.
Pro tip: If this template will be reused for different brands, choose neutral colors or versatile pieces that work across a variety of brand styles.
Set Up the Layout
When you’re ready, click Create template on the bottom of the Product List to open the Template Builder.
Give your template a name and select the visibility (admins & managers only) – to make it available for the entire team. You can also turn on the option to automatically match the item color to the brand's color when available! Then, drag a layout from the sidebar into the page area, this creates a page. You’ll need at least one to get started.
From your product list, drag lifestyle images into the slots on the page. Add more pages if you need them and repeat the process.
- Pro-tip here: From 1-2 pages, a Lookbook is considered a flyer, 3 or more pages make a catalog.
Customize Your Pages
You can click on text areas to rename products, add titles, or include small descriptions.
If you want to reorder your pages, just drag the thumbnails into the order you prefer.
And if you need to switch out an image, drag a new one into the same spot to replace it.
Save Your Template
Once everything looks right, make sure your template has a name and at least one completed page.
Click Create (or Update, if you're editing) to save it.
Downloading the Product List
Your custom template is now ready to use whenever you're building new catalogs or flyers. When you do, you'll be able to download the Product List as you do with all other lookbooks. The only difference is, this product list will have references to the product instead of a direct link, though it can be updated by an admin on the Settings section.
Tips and Tricks
- Use the one-product layout for the Cover page and/or the last page. This ties your Lookbook together neatly.
- If you add Sales Contact information, it will automatically be assigned in the last page, as usual.
