What are Templates?

Templates are pre-curated, ready-to-use collections of products presented in a PDF Lookbook format that Merch.ai automatically brands for you.

They give you a fast starting point for creating Lookbooks without building everything from scratch.

There are two types of templates in Merch.ai:

  • Global templates — created and uploaded by the Merch.ai team. These are the standard, ready-made PDF Lookbook templates you can use right away.

  • Custom templates — curated and set up by you and your team. These let you design your own PDF Lookbook layouts and product selections, either for your entire organization or just for yourself.

Custom templates come in two forms:

  • Org templates — visible and usable by everyone in your company

  • Personal templates — only you can use them (unless an admin promotes one to an org template)

They’re great for recurring campaigns, brand-specific layouts, or any custom setup your organization wants to standardize.

How do I go from a template to a branded Lookbook?

Once your template exists (global or custom), creating a branded Lookbook is simple:

  1. Start the Create a Lookbook flow.

  2. When prompted to choose a template, select either:

    • A Global Template (Merch.ai–created), or

    • A Custom Template you or your team designed

  3. Choose your client’s brand.

  4. Merch.ai automatically generates a fully branded PDF Lookbook based on that template.

You can edit a template, but not a Lookbook. Remember to create a test first and adjust the template as necessary, then create another Lookbook.
